Born and raised in Corry, PA, Matt Allyn graduated from Corry Area High School in 1990 before serving in the U.S. Air Force, where he discovered a passion for brewing while stationed in Utah. That passion evolved into a storied 29-year career, shaping the region’s craft beer culture.
Founder of Voodoo Brewing and Beer Trailblazer
In 2007, Allyn founded Voodoo Brewing Company in Meadville, PA, quickly earning national attention with bold creations like White Magick of the Sun and Big Black Voodoo Daddy, the latter of which earned a silver medal at the 2013 Great American Beer Festival. His innovative use of ingredients such as coriander and passion fruit helped set Voodoo apart in a competitive market.
Allyn also co-owned Blue Canoe Brewery in Titusville and served as brew master at John Russell Brewing Company in Erie, fueling what many described as a “beer revolution” in the region.
