Chevy Gall Death & Obituary: With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, the Beaufort, Missouri community mourns the loss of Chevy Gall, a dedicated 16-year-old volunteer firefighter who tragically lost his life in a car crash while responding to a water rescue emergency on Friday, April 4, 2025.
Chevy was en route to assist during a critical call when his vehicle crossed the center line on U.S. Route 50 near Missouri Route 185 and collided with another car around 4:15 p.m. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Chevy succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a grieving family, fire department, and entire community.
A Young Hero Lost Too Soon
Chevy Gall was not your average teenager. At just 16, he had already committed himself to public service as a volunteer firefighter with the Beaufort-Leslie Fire Protection District. His desire to help others and protect his community came not from obligation, but from an innate sense of duty, compassion, and courage.
Chevy’s life, though tragically brief, was a powerful example of selflessness and bravery. His devotion to service and his drive to make a difference are being remembered by all who knew him.
Fire Chief’s Statement: “Every Fire Chief’s Worst Nightmare”
In a deeply emotional statement, Fire Chief Terry Feth called Chevy’s passing “every fire chief’s worst nightmare.” Chief Feth spoke on behalf of the entire department, sharing how deeply the team is grieving the loss of one of their own.
“Chevy died while answering the call to help others,” Chief Feth said. “Our entire department is heartbroken, and we mourn alongside Chevy’s family, friends, and fellow first responders.”
Chevy was more than a volunteer—he was family to the men and women who serve alongside him.
A Legacy of Bravery and Heart
Chevy’s actions demonstrated maturity and commitment well beyond his years. He regularly put himself on the front lines, ready to help those in crisis. His dedication and work ethic were admired by all, and his presence brought energy, warmth, and integrity to the department.
Those who knew Chevy remember not only his heroic spirit, but also his genuine kindness, infectious smile, and enthusiastic attitude. Whether he was training with fellow firefighters or making friends laugh, Chevy left a lasting impression wherever he went.
Community in Mourning, Support Needed
The accident also involved a 30-year-old driver, who was hospitalized with minor injuries and is expected to recover physically. However, the emotional impact of the crash has been profound.
Chevy’s family is now facing not only the unbearable pain of loss, but also the financial strain of funeral arrangements. A fundraiser has been launched to help support the family in this time of grief. Every donation, prayer, and kind word is deeply appreciated.
