Chevy was en route to assist during a critical call when his vehicle crossed the center line on U.S. Route 50 near Missouri Route 185 and collided with another car around 4:15 p.m. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Chevy succumbed to his injuries, leaving behind a grieving family, fire department, and entire community.

Chevy Gall was not your average teenager. At just 16, he had already committed himself to public service as a volunteer firefighter with the Beaufort-Leslie Fire Protection District. In a deeply emotional statement, Fire Chief Terry Feth called Chevy’s passing “every fire chief’s worst nightmare.” Chief Feth spoke on behalf of the entire department, sharing how deeply the team is grieving the loss of one of their own.
“Chevy died while answering the call to help others,” Chief Feth said. “Our entire department is heartbroken, and we mourn alongside Chevy’s family, friends, and fellow first responders.”
Chevy was more than a volunteer—he was family to the men and women who serve alongside him.
